Have just found this in the Daily Mirror April 1929 ANOTHER SPEEDWAY FOR LONDON Rumours of yet another speedway for London, it is to be laid on the Arsenal Football ground at Highbury, an excellent position of course, but can London stand it ?? Anyone know any more about this.

This might be quite so but my memory of Highbury is; stands around a football pitch with hardly any additional space. A track would have had to be small and call for removal of a lot of turf. I suppose this wouldn't matter very much because there was only a short overlap of speedway and football seasons. There might also have been some complaint about noise from those living very close to the stadium. There certainly would be now. It is a long time since I attended Highbury so maybe I have it all wrong. If that is the case I am sure you will forgive me.

For a bit of irrelevant information. Fleetwood Flyers rode at Highbury Stadium after the war. It wasn't the London one, Arsenal's home but in Lancashire.
