i log into the site daily to see what is up for discussion or check updates of table etc. Always, I am astounded on the amount of information that people have to share with the rest of us and the effort that there must be behind their compilations. My knowledge is more memory oriented so can be suspect, a fact that sometimes stops me offering my three pennyworth. For the last couple of weeks I have been a bit slack in my sign on schedule but since I have been involved at the wrong end of by pass surgery i am sure it wont be held against me.

I've seen the message about a lack of response to interest and visits to the site and it's tone worries me. Does it indicate that there is a thought about taking down and closing the site. I hope not because there's some really great stuff already on here. Perhaps not many of the older speedway fans who would have seen the sport in the 50s and 60s don't know it exists. I'm sure if they were found we would get some great memories on here. Please SAVE OUR SITE.

i am with you all the way crossedhammers, it is a very good site. It brings back those wonderful nights of a Wembley fan visiting Customs House New Cross and other spots to enjoy speedway. Although following my team goes back to 1936 as a four year old, win or lose, it was the riding that counted. I could appreciate Tommy Croombs beating Bill Kitchen as much as the other way round. The Cycle Speedway section is also full of info. As one of the originating mob who setup a track in the Wembley District in 1945 my brain is exercised by input to the forum and that is good for a bloke.

I was disappointed at the overall response to the poll, but it does give some indication to the response time to messages.
There is no intention of winding down/closing down the site.
What is needed is to find a way to stimulate and create discussion, although one must consider that the golden years for speedway in London passed in the 1950s.
Despite that, there were some great and wonderful years before that for speedway in London - really magical times - with great riders, great teams and great and wonderful meetings.
The site will continue to foster an interest in London's speedway history. Many thanks to those who showed sufficient interest to vote. I really appreciate the few votes and encouraging emails.

I've been looking around the site and there seems to be some extra activity in recent days which is nice to see, although it seems to be mainly in regard to cycle speedway - but that's a revival start I guess.

We still seem to be lacking a lot of response in regard to getting regular discussion on here. I wonder how we can give the site a really good boost? It's so packed with information both on speedway and other aspects of the sport and I do feel it should be better supported by members than it is. I must admit that I haven't been too busy myself during the summer but I'll try to get some stimulating thoughts on here and just hope that some of you guys will respond? Yeah! PS: I must say that there have been some great photos posted during the summer. Well done those who have sent them over to the group.

I agree with you that despite some great updates for the current tracks in the London area - Hackney (in 2011) and continuing still with Lakeside Hammers and Rye House, there just does not seem to be any reaction to what is going on. Just where are the registered members? I wonder how many will read this and just put up a reply to me to indicate there's more than just a handful of people using the group? "Let's be having yer!" as they used to say in London's East End.

There is a lot of good stuff posted on here as you say, but I'm sure the moderator must be getting increasingly disappointed at the lack of member support. It does play a great part in providing so many memories of the good old days as well as keeping us informed on modern times Lakeside Hammers and Rye House. But how long will the person who runs the site keep on doing this as it does look as if he is doing it all for himself to read. I am sure that when news about Lakeside or Rye House does get an airing on here there must be something to stimulate supporters of these tracks to pass a comment. And the reason I don't do so is because I do not support either club. I live miles outside London into Kent and my possible nearest track will be Sittingbourne - if it ever opens!

I don't think there are many followers of the London tracks logging on to or reading what appears on this site. That's proved probably because nobody ever reacts to the excellent items that appear for Lakeside Hammers and the two Rye House teams. I just wonder how long the moderator will carry on putting up stiff just for his own interest - and perhaps speedway history? There does seem to be a lot of guests visiting according to a box far down the site bottom left but actual members visiting by the log-in system to seem few and far between. Could it be perhaps because these sort of discussion sites are falling to the increasing challenge from things like facebook and twitter?
