I can't say that I'm surprised about the end of the Hackney venture. Gates for their National League level matches when they raced at Rye House were not very good. Basically, there was nothing to attract Rye House supporters because it wasn't a Rye House team. And Im positive Lakeside were never really keen on the venture when the initial furore about a 'revived' Hackney had subsided. There are very few Hackney fans now - remember they flopped out of the sport originally nearly 15 years ago. Sadly, I don't see a lot of hope for the so-called revived Rye House Raiders in 2012. As my old dad used to say - and it applies to this venture - "same bloke, different hat..!" I wouldn't be surprised if in the current economic climate that we might even see Len Silver having a rethink about promoting a second team at the Hoddesdon track.
