All I do when I want to place an image is to use the ADD ATTACHMENT section that applies TOP RIGHT when one enters to Post a message. The instructions from thereon are easy to follow. I am going to use it now: My procedure - quicker than looks was{ (1) Click on Add Attachment (2) Then Click Add Fille A list of images appears. Use SELECT. chose Split Waterman. (4) After a few seconds use bottom left ADD FILES. (5) A message appears to mention CREATE. Follow subsequent advice then go bottom right to CREATE POST. And that's it. Far easier than the guide by me may indicate. Attachments:

The mid-season closure of Rye House today (July 4, 2018) emphasise a trend already experienced in many ways by this forum: very few people in London and the surrounding area are interested in speedway or even know what the sport is. One only needs to look through the various sections of this forum to see how the sport has changed and how many tracks have opened and closed since the first British dirt track meeting at King'Oak, High Beech, Epping, in February 1928. There are no speedways now in 'REAL' London - the nearest is Lakeside Hammers at the Arena Essex venue. It is no use fooling ourselves that there is now any major interest in current speedway anymore in London so far as this forum is concerned. Since its start the forum has researched most of the historical data relative to the sport in London. Basically this is a website that actively is catering for just one track - and that venue Lakeside Hammers already has its own active and excellent publicity system running. All the items regarding the club that appear on this forum have in the main already appeared on the club's own publicity agenda. On a smaller scale cycle speedway in London is also in major decline. At one time the capital had more than 100 clubs/tracks. Now here sone club which is based near the old West Ham Speedway at Custom House in East London. Earlier this year this forum tried to gauge how many of its listed members followed/supported either or both Lakeside Hammers/Rye House. There was less than 10 responses. At the moment, albeit without major enthusiasm, this forum will continue to operate and carry items in regard to Lakeside Hammers. But with little - VERY LITTLE - historical data now being posted careful thought must be even to what happens to this forum when the present season ends.

The preceding message - which should be read carefully and not ignored - details current feeling by myself in regard to this forum's future. I am disappointed that NOT ONE MEMBER bothered to respond.

LONDON SPEEDWAYS: In future RECENT POSTS will only be updated on the first Saturday of each month. This is because the only London area track is Lakeside Hammers, currently based at Rye House, which is not in London. Lakeside Hammers also has never strictly been a London track having been previously based at Arena Essex which obviously is in Essex, Now sharing the home of the Rye House speedway they are actually in Hertfordshire. However, this forum will continue to cover happenings in regard to Lakeside Hammers on its usual regular basis, as will any happenings in regard to a possible return of speedway at Rye House. The forum will also continue with regular coverage of happenings and photos in regard to speedway historically in London.

During today some members may have found that when logging in that an advert for a newspaper feature was over-riding the forum. This matter was resolved by our server PROBOARDS some hours ago. I have since been making periodic visits to this group and it indicates that matters are back to normal. Thank you, Administrator, London Speedways.

This is the concept for British speedway in 2019. www.speedwaygb.co.uk The absence of any London AREA tracks means there will OBVIOUSLY be a drastic and unfortunate reduction is material for this forum. However, the forum will continue to cover - as best it can - historical data as it comes to hand. And of course for researchers the forum will carry its vast array of historical happenings in regard to speedway in London areas dating back to the historic February 1928 meeting at King's Oak aka High Beech.

There are important factors to consider in regard to this group. Basically as follows: (1) There has not been a bona fide London club since Wimbledon's closure in 2005. (2) The forum continued by embracing the two clubs nearest to London in travelling terms - Rye House and Lakeside. Neither will be operating in the foreseeable future. There is hope that Lakeside may eventually return but at a base further into Essex and well outside the orbit of London. (3) Since its inception 10 years or so ago this forum has steadily researched much of the history in regard to the sport in London since 1928. It is unlikely at this stage that more of any significance will be added. It means that the general status of this group will only be visited for research purposes rather than carrying any major new research material. (4) At the present time much appearing in the forum is of photographic happenings from seasons gone by. This will continue. (5) London Speedways would like to emphasise for those members interested in seeking seeking speedway happenings generally that it may serve a useful purpose for members to join our associate forum The Speedway World at subedei.proboards.com . In this respect, in recent days members may also have received emails from this group advising how to register membership with that forum. (6) As a forum London Speedways would welcome any comments that members may have in regard to this forum's status. londonspeedways.proboards.com

With immediate effect this forum will no longer carry information in regard to Lakeside Hammers. Technically, they have NEVER been a London club, but in view of their reasonable proximity to London when based at Arena Essex, they were featured on this forum. In view of their search for a new base at Thurrock, all future information about the club will be featured on The Speedway World forum at subedei.proboards.com Much the same reasoning will apply to Rye House - strictly not a London track. If there is a revival of racing there, this will also be carried on The Speedway World.

After consideration I have decided the previous comments to revoke coverage of the Arena Essex/Lakeside Hammers. Posts of interest - if there are any?- will be welcomed on this forum. I believe there is a website/forum for the club and would appreciate it if any member of this group can place it on here. Additional coverage of Rye House will also be carried on this forum.Thank you.

Good news John, hopefully there will be more interest this time around. With nothing in London or Essex these days, need any news of comments in this desert. Will be heading to Paradise Park on May 21st though for the West Ham Day, looking forward to it immensely.

I am concerned at the lack of activity by members of London Speedways. Since its start more than 10 years ago 314 people have registered as a member. In most instances that was their only visit. By and large most of the forum's message activity has been generated by the Moderator. TBH this is a ridiculous state of affairs. The last speedway in London was at Wimbledon in 2005 - some 16 years ago. In order to maintain some interest coverage was then added to include Rye House but seriously hardly in London. I made a hope a few days ago that efforts would be made to rekindle interest on here. A foolish remark on my part which I now withdraw. This forum will continue to be available for visits by those wishing to do so. But IMO based on past history that is unlikely to happen.Thank you - and a sad farewell from me.
