Friday 17th July 2015 THE HAMMERS PREPARE FOR TV SHOWTIME The Vortex Hammers are without a meeting this evening, Friday 17th July, but preparations are well in hand for the next Elite League Speedway action at the Arena Essex Raceway when the Coventry Buildbase Bees visit live on Sky Sports on Monday 27th July. The Vortex Hammers boss Jon Cook explained: "With our long term future uncertain at the Arena Essex Raceway we're taking the opportunity to show the good people of Essex and beyond just what a great night out Speedway is and in doing so also strengthen our hand for the Sport to remain in the Borough of Thurrock and the County of Essex. To this end all pre-booked tickets are offered at just £5 for adults and concessions via either our website or Sky Tickets. We're hoping for a bumper crowd and a great atmosphere at the Raceway as we take on this year’s runaway Elite League leaders, Coventry". The £5 tickets can only be purchased via the Club’s website at www.lakesidehammers.co and accessing the online ticket page from the home page or via the Sky Tickets website.

THE HAMMERS MUST FOCUS
Team Manager Neil Vatcher says his Vortex Hammers riders will need to focus on the job in hand on Monday, 27th July, when the Coventry Bees visit the Arena Essex Raceway whilst the rest of the Club concentrate on securing the team’s future. Neil Vatcher stated: "Our home form has been back to expected and we'll need to be on the top of our game to beat the Bees, who were fortunate to grab victory in their earlier visit when a heat 14 machinery failure for Richard Lawson robbed us of League points". The club are offering pre-booked admission for adults and concessions at just £5 and hope for a bumper crowd to reinforce the battle to keep the Sport in Essex. The £5 tickets can be purchased via the Club’s website at www.lakesidehammers.co and accessing the online ticket page from the home page or via the Sky Tickets website.

THE HAMMERS FACE THE DARCY WARD LED SWINDON TONIGHT
The Vortex Lakeside Hammers take on the Darcy Ward led Elite League Play Off hopefuls, the Swindon Robins, at the Arena Essex Raceway this evening (Friday 31st July). Swindon go into this meeting in fourth place in the table having defeated the Hammers last night at their Abbey Stadium home. That was despite the Hammers leading early in the meeting and still being level after ten heats plus only three points behind with three races to go. However, the Robins pulled away in the last three races mainly thanks to their new signing, the sensational Darcy Ward, who won heats thirteen and fifteen. His only defeat of the night came in the opening race where the Hammers captain Andreas Jonsson gained the heat win. The Vortex Hammers go into tonight’s meeting with former Hammers favourite Piotr Swiderski coming in to replace Mikkel Bech, who sustained a hand injury in the final heat of Wednesday’s match up at Belle Vue. Kim Nilsson has still not recovered from his shoulder injury and his rides will be covered by using the ‘Rider Replacement’ facility, which will enable any of the Hammers riders to take an additional ride. Another former Hammers favourite, Ben Morley, comes in to replace the injured Ashley Birks. Swindon’s new Czech Republic signing Eduard Krcmar is unavailable and will be replaced by Lewis Blackbird whilst Nick Morris will not be riding following a reoccurrence of an injury sustained earlier in the month. The Robins Management have now decided to use Rider Replacement to cover his rides. As he is second in their averages any of their riders will be able to take an additional ride. With their Elite Draft Riders Lewis Rose and Charles Wright both currently injured they have brought in Carl Wilkinson and Robert Branford, from Rye House, to replace them. In addition to the sensational Darcy Ward is fellow Australian International and Grand Prix rider Troy Batchelor who joins him and captains the side with Polish rider Grzegorz Zengota completing their team. Zengota has been in great form recently. The Vortex Hammers boss Jon Cook commented this morning: “The appearance at the Raceway of Darcy Ward is always the season’s highlight and we look forward to an entertaining night and, hopefully, more League points for the Hammers.” The action gets underway with the first race at 8pm with the grand parade of riders at 7.45pm. Teams: Vortex Lakeside Hammers: Andreas Jonsson, Piotr Swiderski, Edward Kennett, Richard Lawson, R/R (for Kim Nilsson), Ben Morley, Adam Ellis. Swindon Robins: Darcy Ward, Lewis Blackbird, R/R (for Nick Morris), Grzegorz Zengota, Troy Batchelor, Carl Wilkinson, Robert Branford.

AHEAD OF FRIDAY’S MATCH AGAINST POOLE
With the weather warming up and the Vortex Hammers preparing for their final Elite League outing at the Arena Essex Raceway against reigning champions and current League leaders Poole this Friday 21st August Club owner Stuart Douglas has joined in the build up to this important meeting. He has stated: “2015 has been a difficult season on and off track for the Club and the fans and whilst I cannot offer secure comfort regarding next year - that facility is not within my control - those that know this promotion will understand that we will fight every inch of the way. So, without wishing to create more drama around the details we just don't know, it would be great if all our fans that have visited us over the years come and see what I suspect will be a fantastic Elite League meeting against Poole and certainly the last for this season at the Arena Essex Raceway. The meeting sides starts at the usual time of 8pm with the parade of riders scheduled for 7.45pm.
