This event was staged at the Empire Stadium, Wembley, on 11 September 1947. Jack Parker (Belle Vue) and Bill Kitchen (Wembley) each scored 14 points. In a deciding race-off, Parker beat Kitchen to win the trophy, leaving Kitchen in second place. Bill Longley (New Cross) finished third with 11 points.

Of course the real big shock was that Harringay's Australian ace Vic Duggan did not win the title. That season he was nigh unbeatable.Attachments:
