Because of an error on my part the majority of the Posts for the 2018 season have been deleted. The Board Administrators PROBOARDS advise they cannot formulate a retrieval for these. So far as is possible I have gathered some recent Posts which concentrate of the departure from Arena Essex to Rye House and also several Posts on other matters concerning the 2018 season. Double Header Preview Hammers team boss Will Pottinger admits it’s a “huge night” for the club at their new home of Rye House.
The Hammers left the Arena-Essex Raceway after 34 years in style on Friday night by beating on-form Glasgow 50-40.
But now the Essex boys need to seal their place in the Championship Play-Offs with at least one win at their new venue Hoddesdon against Newcastle and Peterborough in a cracking double header tonight - starting at 7pm.
Pottinger said: “It was always going to be a big weekend for the club. We’ve taken one massive step towards the Play-Offs by beating Glasgow.
“Now I want us to get wins over Newcastle and Peterborough to complete the job. I think one win would probably be enough but we want two to go into the Play-Offs on a high.
“It won’t be easy because we go into the meetings effectively without any home advantage. It will be like racing at a neutral territory”.
“But the boys are naturally up for it. It’s another huge night for the club and fans. It will be very special if we can cap an emotional weekend by making the Play-Offs.”
“We can’t take anything for granted because Peterborough are top of the table right now. But two wins and if we stop the Panthers taking a point could see us finish top”
“That would be some achievement considering on Friday evening we were fifth. That’s why it is such an important double header. It’s going to be a grandstand finish.”
The Hammers have a fitness doubt over Zach Wajtknecht after he took a heavy crash on Friday night while Nick Morris walked away from a nasty pile-up in Heat 15.
Pottinger added: “We’ll obviously have to wait on the verdict for Zach. He’s a key member of the side at reserve.
“We were relieved to see Nick get up from his crash. But they’ll be feeling second hand today which is frustrating. We hope they are both OK obviously.”

Lakeside booked their place in the Championship play-offs on their first night at their new Rye House home on Saturday.
The Hammers claimed three league points from one win and one loss in a double-header against Newcastle and Peterborough.
After beating Newcastle 48-42 in the first fixture, the Hammers knew they’d taken a big step towards a top four finish.
And when the news came through that Berwick had failed to claim all four points despite victory at Ipswich, the Hammers were certain of their play-off spot before a wheel had been turned in the second meeting.
Despite Nick Morris roaring to a stunning 18 point maximum, it wasn’t enough for the Hammers who fell to a 50-40 defeat at the hands of the league leaders Peterborough.
But Lakeside team manager Will Pottinger was just ‘relieved’ to see his side cement their place in the end-of-season shootout alongside Peterborough, Glasgow and Workington.
“Changing your home track so late on in a season is far from ideal so for the riders to come up with the goods in the first meeting and book our place in the play-offs was a huge relief,” Pottinger said.
“We know one win would be vitally important and that’s how it proved.
“I thought all the lads settled in well as a team for the first meeting against Newcastle and overall there were plenty of encouraging signs to take forward for the remainder of the year.
“Yes we were of course disappointed to lose the Peterborough meeting, but they came into it fresh whereas we had already done 15 races and had Adam (Ellis) soldiering on with a shoulder problem and of course we were already without Kyle (Newman).
“But all that matters right now is that we’ve made sure we’re in those play-offs and I think that’s the least we deserve.”
The four play-0ff teams are confirmed as: Peterborough, Glasgow, Workington and The Hammers.

Hammers Select to defend Tunnel Trophy A select Hammers National League side head to Central Park this evening, to defend the Tunnel Trophy against the Kent Kings, a trophy which the Hammers won during the clubs 2017 National League campaign.
For Ben Morley the clash will be his fifth meeting on the spin following the emotional Farewell to The Raceway on Friday, Saturdays Double Header at The House, before riding as a guest in the National League Trophy final between Mildenhall and Cradley Heath yesterday.
Likewise, Jason Edwards, who made his debut for the Hammers in the National League, and rode his in his first competitive meeting for the Hammers senior team on Friday, also saw double header action at Eastbourne on Saturday and raced at West Row for the Heathens.
Hammers reserve Alfie Bowtell had been due to ride, but similar to Morley, four competitive matches in three days has unfortunately left the Essex based racer with bike issues. His spot is taken by Tom Brennan.
Richard Andrews, Daniel Gilkes and former National League Hammer Jamie Couzins complete the team.
Hammers Community Manager Mark Sexton, who will act as Team Manager commented
“It’s been an emotional and hectic few days for everyone involved with the club, but we are looking forward to renewing our friendly rivalry with the Kings, with a side which includes three of our 2017 National League team.
Our matches at Kent were close and entertaining encounters last year and tonight’s clash should be another competitive meeting”
Gates open at 5pm with the parade at 6.15pm and the tapes up at 6.30pm

Hammers v Panthers KO Cup QF Preview
Three Lakeside riders face late fitness checks ahead of Sunday’s Knockout Cup home and away double against defending Champions the Peterborough Panthers. Adam Ellis and Zach Wajtknecht are both carrying knocks following crashes last weekend while Kyle Newman continues to push for a return after sustaining a wrist injury last month. Heat-leader Nick Morris is forced to miss the clashes due to Polish play-off commitments with Rzeszow, so Berwick’s Aaron Summers guests. It’s a bumper day of action for the Hammers who host the first leg at Rye House at 2pm, with the return at the East of England Arena at 7pm. Team Manager Will Pottinger said: “There’s little margin for error with two matches in one day as we look to come out on top after 30 heats and progress to face Scunthorpe in the semi-finals. Moving home tracks from Lakeside to Rye House means that the big home track advantage that we used to enjoy has been wiped away. We could sulk and feel sorry for ourselves about this but that would achieve nothing, so we’ve got to adapt to our new home track as quickly as we possibly can. “It won’t be easy as our opponents Peterborough are as familiar with this track as what we are. “But the aim is to build on the encouraging signs we displayed last weekend and build up a lead to take to Peterborough on Sunday night.” Lakeside Hammers: Richard Lawson, Ben Morley, Adam Ellis, Kyle Newman, Aaron Summers, Zach Wajtknecht, Alfie Bowtell.
Peterborough Panthers: Ben Barker, Emil Grondal, Bradley Wilson-Dean, Michael Palm Toft, Ulrich Ostergaard, Jordan Stewart, Simon Lambert

Panthers v Hammers Meeting Report Lakeside face a 14-point deficit after the first leg of their KO Cup quarter-final having lost 52-38 at Peterborough on Sunday.
The clash at the East of England Arena was the only match raced on the day after the planned afternoon opener at Hoddesdon fell victim to the weather, and it means the Hammers know the size of the task when the return takes place.
They were certainly hit hard by their absences, with the loss to injury of Kyle Newman and Zach Wajtknecht proving costly against a solid-scoring Panthers side.
Newman’s rider-replacement outings accrued just three points, all from a Heat 14 win from the classy Adam Ellis, whilst Broc Nicol struggled as Wajtknecht’s replacement and failed to beat a home rider.
The story of the meeting was that the Hammers heat-leaders won a string of races – but it was the Panthers who maximised their own victories.
In fact, after eleven races the home side had seen their riders take the flag just four times, with all of them being in 5-1 heat advantages, so they led by 14 points.
That was frustrating for Lakeside, for whom Ellis, Richard Lawson and Aaron Summers all won two of their first three rides, but each also suffered a 5-1 concession.
But their only success in the lower-order came in Heat 8 when Alfie Bowtell raced to an impressive victory, holding off Simon Lambert and Emil Grondal for a 3-3.
Trailing 44-28 after Bradley Wilson-Dean shot inside Ellis to win Heat 12, Hammers had high hopes that Heats 13 and 15 would allow them to significantly reduce the deficit.
But in fact those two races were shared and the only result in Lakeside’s favour was a 4-2 in Heat 14 as Bowtell backed up Ellis with third place ahead of Jordan Stewart
Hammers boss Will Pottinger said: “We had nine heat winners but twelve last places, so unfortunately there was no back-up for the heat-leaders who were winning races.
“It’s not un-doable by any means, but we do have a bit of a mountain to climb in the second leg whenever that may be.
“But if we learn lessons from it and put them into practice over the next two weekends, then it will still have been a worthwhile exercise.”
The two sides meet again next weekend in the semi-finals of the Championship Shield, with the first leg at Hoddesdon on Saturday September 29 (7pm).
PETERBOROUGH 52:
Bradley Wilson-Dean 12+1, Emil Grondal 9+1, Simon Lambert 8, Ben Barker 7+3, Michael Palm Toft 7+2, Jordan Stewart 5+2, Ulrich Ostergaard 4+2.
LAKESIDE 38:
Adam Ellis 14, Richard Lawson 11+1, Aaron Summers 7, Alfie Bowtell 5, Broc Nicol 1, Ben Morley 0, Kyle Newman r/r.
