The big local star in the end of the 1920s and early 1930s was Stan Lemon who later rode for Birmingham. There are reports of these meetings in the local newspaper which can be read at Ealing Library. I once got all this information but it has since become lost and I now live too far from Ealing to make another journey to the library.

A question for thebaldeagle and others - Did George Wilks ride for Greenford. The reason I ask is that a rider at the unlicensed Firs track here in Norwich was George WILKIE and I am wondering if this is his "alias". Among the aliases was Charlie Barley, who was maybe Claud Rye in his licensed speedway life, and Arthur Reynolds who was Fred Leavis of Wimbledon & Bristol in those days
