[Please refer to Lea Bridge. Clapton was an alternate name used by the team for some seasons in the early 1930s. There was also a Clapton Stadium but this only staged greyhound racing.

The season when Lea Bridge was known as Clapton is 1933. That is when the Southampton team moved there.

Lea Bridge ran unlicensed with betting in the early part of 1932. Southampton team moved to Lea Bridge midway through the 1932 season, and the team was named Clapton to avoid being associated with the tarnished Lea Bridge image. Clapton continued in 1933, and eventually became Harringay for 1934. There was a Lea Bridge team in 1934, they moved to Walthamstow mid-season. Lea Bridge then ran midget cars for a few seasons
Lea Bridge re-opened for a very short period in 1938, and basically operated the Harringay reserve team as Lea Bridge Cubs in Div. 2.

I have been told by a work colleague that a 'pirate' speedway meeting took place at Lea Bridge at Whitsun 1940 when starters included Vic Collins, Ernie Pawson, Les Trim, Charlie Appleby, Eddie Barker and Keith Harvey. Any more known of this?
