The Olympiad place at West Ham in 1948 to mark the staging of the Olympic Games in London that year. I have no other details of the event.

Speedway Olympiad 1948 Result Vic Duggan & Frank Dolan (both Australia) 14 each .... Vic won a run-off to win meeting ...... Wilbur Lamoreaux (USA) 13, Malcolm Craven (England) 11, Split Waterman (England) 10, Eric Chitty (Canada) 9, Tommy Croombs & Norman Parker (both England) 8 each, Kid Curtis (England) 7, Cliff Watson (Australia) 6, Henk Steman (Holland) 5, Bob Harrison (England) 2, Frank Bettis (England), Jan Bosman (Holland) & Buddy Fuller (South Africa) 1 each, Bert Spencer (Australia) 0 Bert crashed & injured in his first ride. (Some races only had 3 riders as no reserves were appointed for the meeting as far as I know. The website for West Ham on Researcher will have to be checked for any reserves) A repeat of this meeting in 2012 would be a good idea, with 1 rider from each country, not just another grand prix meeting. Run it at Arena (The Hammers)
