Does anyone have knowledge of the fatal accident at Wimbledon when a sidecar passenger was killed?

I think the accident was in the mid-1960s when a sidecar passenger died after the unit he was riding with came in collision with the starting gate.

I think the accident was in the mid-1960s when a sidecar passenger died after the unit he was riding with came in collision with the starting gate. That seems a date nearer to when the sidecar fatality took place at Wimbledon. I now don't think they raced there before the 1960s.

I think a sidecar took part in the 2002 pre-season practice at Wimbledon. I was there and on the way home after the speedway trials saw this sidecar at the pits gate. I often wonder if it ever went out on to the track for a spin round.

The date was July 20, 1967....National Press Speedway Trophy Meeting.....and yes it was on the back straight......his name was Chris Jackson, he was only 18 years old....sad time, remember how horrible the crash was. Chris wasn't even programmed to ride. Other names, from my programme, I assume you want sidecar, Nightingale & Greene, Jones & Smith (a likely story!), Lloyd & Lewitt, Haymen & Fox, Lloyd & Cave and Adams & Munday
