Brockley Boomerangs raced a few home matches early in 1954 on the LCC track at Blackheath. They took part in a league in south west London run by Jimmy Kilsby. Name of league forgotten. Brockley riders included Paul Galea, John Hyam, Bob Hyam, John Brown. Most of them joined the Beckton Aces who were organised by Vic Duffy, which later became a reformed Welling Wings team. John Hyam sometimes rode as Jack Brodie and his brother Bob also rode under the name of Francis (or Frank) Enn.

Blackheath was the track where Colin 'Joe' Gooddy was a big star between 1952 and 1953. His sister Norma ran the team - I forget their name. Gooddy was one of many cycle speedway riders who 'graduated' to speedway racing.
