I have enjoyed the league tables so far printed and look forward to seeing the others in time. Is the list all the leagues that operated in London? My local team was Welling Wings - the second version promoted by Vic Duffy in the middle of the 1950s. Vic rode for the team, and others were I think Paul Galea, John Brown and Jack Brodie. I think the latter was also an Eastbourne speedway junior or novice at that time. Vic Duffy also rode for the team and he lived in Canning Town. Is Vic still with us? He moved to Colchester.

Yes these league tables are a good idea. Anyone going to attempt them for speedway proper in the near future. I guess it's a very tiresome job. I don't think there were any other leagues in the London area than those already listed.

It's great to see all these old league tables. Like speedway in London, its poses the question - why did cycle speedway die in the capital. Probably coincidental to the demise of speedway.

What a treasure trove of information these league tables are. They are a real taste of a sport that enjoyed great popularity in the 1940s and early 1950s. JACK KEEN, ERITH, KENT
