Wasn't Welling Wings one of several teams run at various times in the 1950s by Vic Duffy. And in the team photo, on the left, it looks like Bob Warner who later rode motorbike speedway for Eastbourne, Bradford (?) and Wimbledon and I think also raced in France at sometime in the 1950s and the 1960s.

In reply to the post with a photo of the Welling Wings 1950, as I was one of the founder members of the Wings, I can confirm that the names in the team photo are (l to r) Don Baldry, Jack Ellis, Fred Pallett, Colin Thompson, Geoff Stark, Barry West (captain), Mike Tottle, Derek Brown. The photo was taken at the Wings' second track at the rear of the Green Man public house in Wickham Street, Welling, Kent. The team competed in the Kent League. The track was obliterated by a housing estate many years ago.
In reply to the post about the Wings being run by Vic Duffy during the 1950s, it is my understanding that he rode for and managed the team after all the original team members were conscripted for their compulsory National Service in the early 1950s. Most of the original team members still meet up annually for a reunion lunch.
I can also confirm that Bob Warner never rode for the Wings and that Don Baldry was never a motorcycle speedway rider.
