This was seen on the British Speedway Forum today January 20 2011:
An open invitation to all ex-Crayford Speedway folk be they promoters, riders, mechanics, trackstaff, fans or whatever goes out to attend the above that will take place on the evening of Tuesday February 22nd at The Volunteer Public House, Church Road, Bexleyheath from circa 7pm onwards.
Obviously realising that not everybody who would like to will be able to be present, if anybody (particularly ex-Highwaymen / Kestrels) would like to email me a message which they would like me to read out on the night, please Email me same to: awzv22@dsl.pipex.com

A Crayford speedway reunion takes place on Tuesday, February 22, at The Volunteer pub, Church Road, Bexleyheath from 7pm. The organisers are keen to see anyone involved in any capacity with the club. They want former riders, promoters, mechanics, track staff or fans to go along, if possible with relics of the club’s racing time. Speedway first ran at Crayford from April 21, 1930, until midway through the following year. It reopened in 1935 and closed again in 1937. In these seasons only open meetings were staged. Crayford came back as a league club on June 12, 1968, but closed again on October 28, 1970. There was another attempt to popularise the club in league speedway with a reopening on April 8, 1975. Crayford closed for the last time on October 26, 1983. More information from Bryn Williams email awzv22@dsl.pipex.com.

Does anyone have information about the Reunion. Did it go ahead as planned?

The reunion did indeed go ahead and such was it's success with so many ex-Crayford followers present, that the hope is that a bigger event (possibly a dinner / dance) will be arranged for later in the year. Certainly that has drawn initial interest from Laurie Etheridge, Mike Bessent and Paul Whittaker amongst others who were unable to make it to the Volunteer PH. Just to explain the "Volly" is an excellent little pub tucked away in the back streets of Bexleyheath and the main organiser of the event, Rowan Watt is a regular patron! One ex-rider who did attend was Alan Johns who had a whale of a time but whose darts aim is definitely NOT up to Phil Taylor standards!

It all seems very quiet in regard to Crayford happenings since the last event which was some years ago!
