Wasn't George Pettitt a local lad and lived in Penge which touches the main gates of Crystal Palace Park at Thicket Road SE20?

He lived in the area but not in Penge. It was South Norwood, just a few miles away George Pettitt retired in the early 1930s because he was unable to get time off work to travel to away matches - according to speedway folklore!
