Re the 'Never Gibb Up!' link to Jimmy Gibb. It's another Hoskins myth that he coined the phrase for the Canadian star. Evidence will show that it was a tattoo the rider had.

That's fantastic news Tom.
The odd thing is in many previous Posts on this site over he years on the topic he has never been included as one of the pre-war riders still alive.
I remember him in post-war in two spells at Wimbledon in 1949 and 1951, and in the latter season he was also a member of the USA team based at Shelbourne Park, in Dublin, although of course Jimmy is a Canadian.
He had an especially excellent career in the USA before and after WW2, and was first brought to England in 1938 by Johnnie Hoskins, spending two seasons with West Ham up to the outbreak of war in September 1939. He qualified for the World Championship final in 1938, He was especially a close racing friend with the American stars Jack and Cordy Milne and Wilbur Lamoreaux.
As a rider, in many historians opinion, Jimmy Gibb rates as one of speedway's all-time greats.
Where is Jimmy living these days? And is there any more info on him. As you say - and I think it was Hoskins-inspired - "Never Gibb Up."
I know for many, many years, he also lived and worked in California, at one-time in the Hollywood film industry, I think either as a sound technician or film cameraman.

101 and still going strong! Definitely the oldest pre war rider alive. And Canadian to boot!
Well done Jimmy! Makes the tattoo true "Never Gibb Up"
