Ron Swaine was the captain of Ruskin Flyers cycle speedway team for several years in the early fifties, the team was based in Camberwell London S.E 5. I was fortunate enough to ride in the same team, Ron was at the same time learning his trade at Rye House. upon his retirement from the motorised sport he became the manager of Crawley Tigers cycle speedway team, his son Ian also rode for the team I do not recall Ron riding for Tulse Hill Rockets, if he did it must have been for a very short spell

It's sad to hear of Rons passing, he was a genuinely nice guy. I knew him when he was team manager of Crawley Tigers cycle speedway team. All three of his sons raced for Crawley but I haven't seen any of them for years.
