I have come to the conclusion that involvement with Facebook is not that satisfactory. I am going to try and revive this forum. To see what interest there is, please complete the poll - even if you have no further interest Thank you very much.

I am disappointed that at the moment only one vote has been posted. And I am also surprised that 10 members have viewed the Post with just one vote recorded.

My eldest son has told me not to waste time on here. Hr says that as there has been no REAL speedway action in London since Hackney closed in that there are few people in London interested in speedway now. He says most who followed have no idea that there are groups like ths "vainly trying to keep interest alive".

Your son's point is well made. There are no actual London teams but the support at Rye House and Lakeside suggest there are a hard-core element that have a history with Hackney and West Ham to keep getting involved in the sport. Despite our own thoughts on Facebook, there are also still a lot of interest in Speedway groups.
At the end of the day, I suppose it depends upon you personally deciding what you want to achieve from the group and whether it is a waste of your time or is it something you enjoy doing and to hell with it if you do not build up a huge following.
Personally, I would go with the latter option but then what do I know. I cannot even understand why there are no takers for some old Hackney programmes I have for sale!!!

Well, this was all a waste of time apart from signifying a general lack of interest in the forum. There were three votes cast - one by myself and just TWO members, who I thank for their interest. All votes indicated a continuation of interest in the forum. There's not a lot else for me to say...!

Hello, I did not realise there was a vote about London Speedways and i did not receive an email saying there was,if of course there was one, otherwise i would have voted. I personally have supported and followed Belle Vue since 1964 after Stoke closed in 1963. I do not think the problem of people not being interested in London speedways is confined to yourselves i believe generally that interest in British speedway is falling rapidly and for myself the use of guests is killing the sport and people's interest.Belle Vue recently visited Lakeside with 4 guests an absolute farce...................speedway in the UK has become an absolute farce. I joined London Speedways because i had an interest in West Ham and wanted to know more about them.Even when i joined there seemed little activity. You are right of course people need to participate for the site to become interesting and to expand.Another problem is that many of the people who went to speedway's in London are no longer with us. Have you thought of asking websites of present speedway tracks to advertise London Speedways maybe starting with Lakeside and Rye house? Also you could approach Reg Fearman to help kick start your website again.West Ham was very much in his blood. He was promoter at Stoke when i went to my first meetings in 1960. I hope you have success in the future . Dave Hitchen.

Good comment from Dave Hitchens and certainly worth a try. Might also be worth seeing if Tomny Mcdonald at Classic Sppedway or Stu Towner might slip in a mention in their publications.
