LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS RELEASE ::::: LAKESIDE will look to kick-off their Elite League campaign with a win as they travel to King’s Lynn on Thursday (7.30). The Vortex Hammers will head to the Adrian Flux Arena aiming to get their season off to a perfect start before welcoming the Stars to the Arena-Essex Raceway for the return fixture on Friday (1pm). Co-promoter Jon Cook has revealed how he believes there is a new level of enthusiasm surrounding the club heading into the new season. He hopes that energy can play a crucial part in enabling them to get back into the play-off picture after a tough few years. “There is definitely a level of enthusiasm surrounding the club heading into the new season that I haven’t know for quite some time,” Cook said. “I can’t recall the last time there was so much excitement surrounding the club in the build-up to the new season, so hopefully that will transfer on to the track. “Obviously every club sets out to be in the play-offs, and if you don’t make it then your season is a failure. “It’s been too long since we were there, so like everyone we are aiming for a top four finish and we believe we can achieve it.” The Vortex Hammers will be led by Andreas Jonsson after his stunning victory in the Spring Trophy last week whilst Richard Lawson is preferred to Eddie Kennett at No.4. NEW reserve Lewis Kerr is desperate to make a good impression on his Lakeside Elite League debut – as he comes up against his former club. The Hammers take on King’s Lynn at the Arena Essex Raceway this afternoon (1.00) before travelling to the Adrian Flux Arena for the re-arranged away fixture following Thursday’s postponement (8.00). Kerr began his career with King’s Lynn’s second side in 2010 and spent a total of six seasons with the Norfolk club. But the birthday boy, who turns 26 today, says there’ll be no room for sentiment as he looks to get his Hammers career off to a positive start. “I had some great times at Lynn but this year is all about focusing on my spot with Lakeside and I’m really looking forward to it,” Kerr said. “Last week in the Spring Trophy was more about getting laps in on my new home track, finding the right set-up and just getting the hang of it again I suppose. “I then went and had a good meeting at Scunthorpe on the Sunday with Ipswich so with all of that I’m feeling much more confident and I’m feeling good. “I’ve done plenty of laps at Lynn and hopefully I can use that to my advantage. “Notoriously, Lakeside don’t usually do too well at King’s Lynn but we’re at the start of a new season so I guess anything could happen. “Hopefully we can make a positive start as a team and I hope I can have a good couple of meetings myself too and show them what they’re missing!” LAKESIDE: Andreas Jonsson, Piotr Swiderski, Kim Nilsson, Richard Lawson, Lewis Bridger, Rob Mear, Lewis Kerr. KING’S LYNN: Niels K. Iversen, Kai Huckenbeck, Rory Schlein, Mads Korneliussen, Robert Lambert, Carl Wilkinson, Lewis Rose.

LAKESIDE got their 2016 Elite League campaign off to the perfect start with a 56-36 win at home to King's Lynn. The result was an ideal confidence booster for the Vortex Hammers ahead of their trip to the Adrian Flux Arena for the reverse fixture later tonight (8.00) The Arena-Essex Raceway outfit conceded just one heat advantage following a classy display in front of a packed crowd. Promoter Jon Cook said: "It was a dream start to the season for us with a fantastic result. "We’re now in our tenth season as promoters but it was one of the biggest Good Friday crowds we’ve seen in our time in charge. “There was some good racing and of course plenty of promise from our boys, in particular Kim Nilsson, Richard Lawson and Robert Mear who take the plaudits today. “It was an excellent way to get our season underway, so we are very happy to get our first win and hopefully things go well in the return fixture at King’s Lynn tonight.” Kim Nilsson dropped just one point to an opposing rider when he was beaten by Grand Prix star Niels K. Iversen in Heat 13. Richard Lawson carried over his excellent home form from 2015 with an impressive display while Piotr Swiderski proved why he could be a real trump card for the Hammers this season. Robert Mear enjoyed a successful return to Elite League racing picking up two heat wins and contributing to two 5-1's on his way to nine paid ten. Andreas Jonsson endured a mixed afternoon while Lewis Bridger settled steadily back onto the shale. After a promising start, Lewis Kerr somewhat struggled for points however it was a good workout as he got some more laps under his belt, as he continues his comeback from serious injury. LAKESIDE 56: Kim Nilsson 13+1, Richard Lawson 12+1, Piotr Swiderski 9+2, Robert Mear 9+1, Andreas Jonsson 6, Lewis Bridger 5+1, Lewis Kerr 2+1. LAKESIDE coach Kelvin Tatum was pleased with a battling display by his side despite a 51-39 defeat against King’s Lynn at the Adrian Flux Arena. The Vortex Hammers travelled to Norfolk buoyed by their 56-36 win over the Stars at the Arena-Essex Raceway earlier in the day. However, they were unable to complete a Good Friday double as they also missed out on a consolation point for their efforts. Tatum nonetheless declared himself encouraged by what he saw over the course of the day – and he was delighted to see the “fighting spirit” already present within the camp. Tatum said “It was a fighting display this evening, and it was just unfortunate one or two things didn’t quite go our way. “With the win in the first meeting, I think we can be happy overall with the way our day went and there are certainly a lot of encouraging signs early on. “There is already a good spirit in the camp and a will to win, which was epitomised by the way we finished strongly even when the meeting was lost. “Looking forward to next week’s meetings home and away against Leicester, there is definitely a chance for us to build on these two performances so hopefully we can do that.” Grand Prix star Andreas Jonsson top scored for the visitors with a classy display, culminating in two fine victories in heats 13 and 15. Richard Lawson also enjoyed an excellent evening whilst Lewis Kerr bounced back from a tough home debut to record two race wins against his former club. Yet despite the rest of the Vortex Hammers side showing plenty of determination, they were unable to leave with any Elite League points to show for their efforts against a solid King’s Lynn side. They will now aim to bounce back and make it two home wins out of two when they host Leicester next Friday, April 1 (8pm) before travelling to Beaumont Park for the return fixture 24 hours later. KING’S LYNN 51: Niels-Kristian Iversen 13, Robert Lambert 9+2, Mads Korneliussen 9+1, Kai Huckenbeck 8+2, Lewis Rose 5+1, Carl Wilkinson 5, Rory Schlein 3+1. LAKESIDE 39: Andreas Jonsson 12, Richard Lawson 8+1, Lewis Kerr 6, Lewis Bridger 4, Robert Mear 3+1, Kim Nilsson 3, Piotr Swiderski 3. Elite League points: King’s Lynn 3 Lakeside 0

LAKESIDE coach Kelvin Tatum says they have “nothing to lose” as they travel to Wimborne Road to take on title favourites Poole on Wednesday (7.30). The Vortex Hammers have enjoyed an excellent start to the season with three wins in their opening four matches including a resounding away win over Leicester last time out. Tatum knows they will face their toughest test yet as they face a highly-rated Pirates side being widely tipped to win their fourth successive Elite League title in 2016. However, the Purfleet outfit are travelling to Dorset high on confidence – and he believes they have what it takes to cause an upset. “We’ve started the season well but we are going to face our toughest test yet at Poole,” Tatum said. “They are highly fancied of course, but we are going there in good heart and hoping to come up with a big performance. “We are in a position where we have nothing to lose, and with the spirit we have seen from the team so far I’d like to think we can come away with something.” The Vortex Hammers remain unchanged with Richard Lawson keeping the No.4 spot. Meanwhile, Poole are led by 2012 World Champion Chris Holder and include former Lakeside riders Davey Watt and Adam Ellis in their line-up. It's the first of two meetings in three days between the teams with Poole visiting Purfleet for one of the biggest meetings of the year on Friday (8pm). POOLE: Chris Holder, Brady Kurtz, Davey Watt, Hans Andersen, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Adam Ellis, Kyle Newman. VORTEX HAMMERS: Andreas Jonsson, Piotr Swiderski, Kim Nilsson, Richard Lawson, Lewis Bridger, Robert Mear, Lewis Kerr.

IN-FORM Lakeside are aiming to make it a fabulous Friday night when they tackle clear Elite League title favourites Poole at the Raceway this week (8pm). And Vortex Hammers chiefs are urging fans to turn out in force for what promises to be one of the meetings of the season. Jon Cook's side are buzzing after another winning weekend and the feel-good factor is back at the Arena-Essex venue. Club coach Kelvin Tatum said: "Friday promises to be something special and obviously every single team member will need to dig deep. "The crowd can be like an extra team member and we will need them in big numbers making plenty of noise to back the team. "The team spirit is excellent and although it's early days, the signs from the team so far are encouraging. There is cautious optimism amongst the management but everyone knows the size of the task on Friday night." Poole include 2012 World Champion Chris Holder, who is getting back to his best form - and they have strength in every department. A full preview and meeting build-up will be issued later this week.

LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS RELEASE::: LAKESIDE suffered their second defeat of the season as they went down 57-33 against title favourites Poole at Wimborne Road. The Vortex Hammers were right in contention for a consolation point for the majority of the meeting – trailing by just eight points after 10 heats – before the powerful Pirates came on strong in the closing stages. It was a difficult night for the Purfleet outfit in what will arguably be their toughest test of the season – but coach Kelvin Tatum felt the result was not an entirely fair reflection of the resilience shown by his side. Tatum said: “For 10 heats we were right in the meeting and we were fighting really hard, and I’ve got to say that again we showed terrific resilience. “It was just the three 5-1s in quick succession which put paid to it, and Poole really flexed their muscles towards the end of the meeting. “Not many teams are going to get anything from Poole if they ride like that, but I have to say I didn’t quite think the score line did us justice in the end.” Grand Prix star Andreas Jonsson again top scored with a hard-fought double figure points haul, whilst Kim Nilsson, Piotr Swiderski and Lewis Kerr all claimed a race win apiece. Richard Lawson also added a useful five points, but Lewis Bridger and Robert Mear largely struggled as the Hammers ran 12 last places. They will be back in action and searching for revenge as they host the Pirates at the Arena-Essex Raceway on Friday (8pm). POOLE 57: Krzysztof Buczkowski 13+1, Brady Kurtz 10+1, Kyle Newman 9+1, Hans Andersen 9, Chris Holder 8+1, Adam Ellis 6+2, Davey Watt 2. LAKESIDE 33: Andreas Jonsson 10, Kim Nilsson 6, Piotr Swiderski 5+1, Richard Lawson 5, Lewis Kerr 5, Lewis Bridger 1, Robert Mear 1.

LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS RELEASE ::::::::: LAKESIDE will host their biggest meeting of the season so far as they welcome star-studded Poole to the Arena-Essex Raceway on Friday (8pm). The Vortex Hammers will look to preserve their perfect home record and bounce back from a heavy defeat at the hands of the Pirates at Wimborne Road on Wednesday. The Purfleet outfit are sure to face a tough challenge against the powerhouse Dorset outfit, who are widely being backed to win their fourth successive Elite League title. However, promoter Jon Cook hopes their team spirit can be the deciding factor as they aim to add three more points to their Elite League tally. Cook said: “The Pirates are red hot favourites for the title and have assembled a formidable looking team from their enviable huge retained list of riders, although ironically their stand out performer thus far is a Hammers asset Adam Ellis, as we saw last week. “Some pundits are even suggesting the Dorset side can ride through the season undefeated so tonight will give us a far greater indication of where our own lofty aspirations lay. “Last week’s terrific away win at Leicester, 24 hours after victory over the Lions here, has given us a more than decent points haul at this early stage of the year and any team with serious play-off aspirations will have to get a win over Leicester at their place. “However, the manner of our win was particularly pleasing to witness as the bond between our team was very evident and that spirit will serve us well over the next few months.” The Vortex Hammers remain unchanged for the sixth successive meeting, whilst Poole are also at full strength. LAKESIDE: Andreas Jonsson, Piotr Swiderski, Lewis Bridger, Richard Lawson, Kim Nilsson, Robert Mear, Lewis Kerr. POOLE: Chris Holder, Brady Kurtz, Davey Watt, Hans Andersen, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Adam Ellis, Kyle Newman.

LAKESIDE condemned Elite League Champions Poole to their first defeat of the season so far with a dramatic 50-40 victory at the Arena-Essex Raceway. Just 48 hours after suffering a 57-33 loss at Wimborne Road, the Vortex Hammers gained revenge with a tremendous performance. Faced with their toughest test of the season so far on home shale, the Purfleet outfit passed with flying colours with another determined display. They demonstrated character and spirit in abundance to come from six points down to earn a memorable win and leave the powerhouse Pirates travelling back to Dorset empty handed. The result moves Lakeside seven points clear at the top of the Elite League table – and jubilant promoter Jon Cook believes they have what it takes to launch a title challenge as the season progresses. “We are totally delighted with the win, and it takes a proper speedway team to be able to lower Poole’s colours,” Cook said. “I know a lot of people have said that this is a one-team league, but I’d say after tonight it’s a two-team league. “It’s early days, but we’ve done six meetings and we have to be very pleased with where we are at and the way things are going at the moment.” Grand Prix star Andreas Jonsson once again led from the front with a masterful display, only being denied a paid maximum by Hans Andersen in the final race. He received outstanding support from popular Pole Piotr Swiderski, who also bagged double figures to earn a well-deserved heat 15 appearance. Lewis Bridger enjoyed his best night of the season so far, ending his evening with two wins including a breathtaking ride in heat 14 to wrap up victory alongside Richard Lawson. Lawson similarly came on strong as the meeting went on, whilst Kim Nilsson and reserve Lewis Kerr bagged a race win apiece as they added vital contributions. No.6 Robert Mear endured another tough night but was in the thick of the action against Poole’s star reserve pairing, who were powerless to prevent their side suffering defeat. After storming to their finest victory of the season so far, the high-flying Hammers will travel to Wolverhampton on Monday, April 18 (7.30) before hosting Swindon in their next home meeting on Friday, April 22 (8pm). LAKESIDE 50: Andreas Jonsson 13+1, Piotr Swiderski 11+1, Richard Lawson 7+1, Lewis Bridger 7, Kim Nilsson 6, Lewis Kerr 5+1, Robert Mear 1 POOLE 40: Hans Andersen 11+1, Adam Ellis 11, Kyle Newman 6+2, Krzysztof Buzkowski 6, Chris Holder 3+1, Davey Watt 2, Brady Kurtz 1+1 Elite League points: Lakeside 3 Poole 0

LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS RELEASE:: ::::::::::: LAKESIDE star Lewis Bridger is keen to pick up where he left off heading into a big week for the Vortex Hammers. The British racer bagged two impressive race wins in his final two rides to see the Purfleet outfit over the line as they defeated title favourites Poole at the Arena-Essex Raceway last Friday. After a week to gather their thoughts after a breathtaking start to the campaign, the in-form Hammers will travel to Monmore Green to take on Wolverhampton on Monday (7.30). They will then welcome Swindon to the Arena-Essex Raceway on Friday April 22 (8pm) as they look to strengthen their grip on the top spot in the Elite League table with another successful week. Bridger was delighted to give his confidence a timely boost with his late heroics against the Pirates – and he is now aiming for more of the same over the coming week. Said Bridger: “It took me a couple of heats to get settled in against Poole, but then I managed to pull those two wins out the bag at the end so I was delighted with that. “It was a great win for the team and it was nice to wrap up the win with that ride in heat 14. “I think the way I came from behind in heat 14 especially just proves we do have the power in these Jawa engines we’ve got with the Revolution race bikes. “We just need to try and carry that sort of form on when we go onto the away tracks and try to score more points on a consistent basis. “The atmosphere in the pits is really positive this year, there is a good spirit in the team. I think that’s played a big part for us so far, and we are really happy with how we’ve started the season so we want to try and keep that going.”

LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS ELEASE:: :::::: LAKESIDE coach Kelvin Tatum is expecting a stern test when his side travel to Monmore Green to take on Wolverhampton in the Elite League on Monday (7.30). Both clubs have enjoyed positive starts to the 2016 campaign – The Vortex Hammers currently sit top of the league table while Wolverhampton have picked up eye-catching away wins at Coventry and Swindon in their only meetings of the season so far. Tatum is desperate for his side to build on their 50-40 victory over reigning Champions Poole last time out but is predicting that the clash on Monday could go down to a last heat decider. Said Tatum: “This meeting has all the right ingredients to be something special and I think the supporters of both clubs are in for a treat. “Wolves have made an impressive start to the season; their two away wins were really good results and they’ll be full of confidence. “They’ve got a new look team this year and they’re yet to race a meeting at home. Hopefully that can play into our hands somewhat and hopefully we can try and catch them out as they may take some time to get dialled in. “We’ve got a few riders who usually go well at Monmore Green and we’ve got a few riders who are enjoying their racing right now. “This is probably going to be one of the sternest tests of our season so far but we’re feeling good as a team right now and we’d love to continue our own great start too.” Edward Kennett, who has been in scintillating form for Rye House in the early stages of the Premier League, comes in to make his first appearance for the Hammers in 2016 while Lewis Bridger reverts back to the No.5 role. Wolverhampton’s line-up sees Swedish World Cup winner Freddie Lindgren return to the No.1 spot with former Hammer Mikkel Bech set to make his home debut for the hosts. WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren, Sam Masters, Jacob Thorssell, Mikkel Bech, Joonas Kylmakorpi, Max Clegg, Kyle Howarth LAKESIDE: Andreas Jonsson, Piotr Swiderski, Kim Nilsson, Edward Kennett, Lewis Bridger, Robert Mear, Lewis Kerr.
