RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE:
ROBBO SIDELINED The “BP Mitchell” Rockets have been hit by the news that Stuart Robson has been sidelined with a broken finger. The now-25 season veteran – impressive in the Rockets’ abandoned home opener last Wednesday against Leicester and described by Team Manager Peter Schroeck as “Mr Unlucky” because of a fall and tape exclusion at Wolverhampton on Monday – suffered his injury in a Heat 13 crash last night while representing his SGB Championship club Newcastle at Redcar. It is uncertain at this stage how long “Robbo” will be out of the saddle – his finger is broken in three places – but the Rockets can already confirm that former Rye House star Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen will provide guest cover both at Belle Vue on Monday and in next Wednesday’s home return against Wolverhampton.

RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: THE BIG PREVIEW: BELLE VUE VS ROCKETS The “BP Mitchell” Rockets will be aiming to rebound from their bad night at the office at Wolverhampton when they head to Manchester to face Belle Vue at the National Speedway Stadium on Monday. The Rockets suffered a 60-30 shock at Monmore Green, but will be determined to make it a fresh start to a new week as they battle the Aces forty-eight hours ahead of their big home Premiership return against the Wolves. Stuart Robson has been ruled out of action after suffering a triple fracture of a finger in a Heat 13 crash at Redcar while representing his SGB Championship club Newcastle, and the Rockets have called on 2015 Hoddesdon star Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen as guest cover. A multi-time World U-21 Finalist, NBJ blasted a 7.49 average (including bonus points) when he represented his parent club in his first season in this country and is now a regular Berwick Bandit in the Championship. The Aces, meanwhile, are looking to push on to the next level after proving beaten Play-Off Semi-Finalists last season (although they made amends by lifting the Knock-Out Cup). They are headed by reigning British Champion and Grand Prix star Craig Cook, with Rohan Tungate alongside him as the Aussie national titlist. Elsewhere, 2016 World U-21 Champion Max Fricke is installed as captain and Paul Starke continues to fill an injury cover role for Damian Drozdz. The Aces’ top five is rounded out by guest Charles Wright – who substitutes for broken leg victim Steve Worrall – while their reserve berths are taken by Jai Etheridge and Dan Bewley, who top-scored for the Manchester men with 12 points in Wednesday’s 53-37 defeat at King’s Lynn. Rye House Team Manager Peter Schroeck is keen to get his side back on track on Monday. “It’s all about getting stuck in and making a good start to the meeting. We also need to get everyone going. You’ve got nowhere to hide if the guys in the key roles have problems, like they did at Wolverhampton. They are more than capable of bouncing back. “Obviously, we’ll be going there to win, but I would be equally pleased to come away with a point. We came close to doing that in one match there last year, and this season we have to step up a gear. “It’s important to remember that we are only one match into the season. There have been many times when teams like Poole have been written off, only to prove the doubters totally wrong – and the most recent case in point is Swindon, who lost twice and drew once in their first three home matches last year and went on to win the championship!” Updating the status of Stuart Robson, he said, “It’s the middle finger of his left hand. I gather it was a freak accident, and Robbo caught it in a back wheel. He’s seeing a specialist and may well need an operation, so we are quite possibly talking “weeks” rather than “days” in terms of his time out. “We’ve got Nikolai (Busk Jakobsen) booked in for Monday and Wednesday already. He was originally in our team plans anyway – plus he’s a club asset – so we will be looking to use him as much as we can while Robbo is away. It’s important for the team spirit to avoid different riders all the time, and NBJ’s presence should give us back the consistency we need.” “BP Mitchell” Rockets: Max Clegg, Chris Harris, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen (guest), Krzysztof Kasprzak, Edward Kennett, Scott Nicholls (captain), Aaron Summers Belle Vue: Dan Bewley, Craig Cook, Jai Etheridge, Max Fricke (captain), Paul Starke, Rohan Tungate, Charles Wright (guest)

RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: KENNETT BLOW
Already missing Stuart Robson, the “BP Mitchell” Rockets will now also have to do without the services of Edward Kennett at Belle Vue tonight.
The former World Cup Lion suffered a knee injury in a grass-track event yesterday, with the subsequent swelling to the joint also ruling Kennett out of Wednesday’s home fixture against Wolverhampton. The Rockets will operate the Rider-Replacement facility, with Krzysztof Kasprzak, Aaron Summers, reserve guest Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen and Max Clegg all eligible to take replacement outings.

ACES LOW, WOLVES HIGH? The “BP Mitchell” Rockets fell to their second heavy away defeat in as many matches this season in a 31-59 reverse at Belle Vue on Monday night. The meeting did, however, mark an immediate return to form for Krzysztof Kasprzak, who struggled at Monmore Green but racked up 14+1 here as the Rockets’ mainstay. That total would have been more but for a two minute exclusion due to mechanical problems in Heat 12 and two subsequent outings in which the newly announced Warsaw Grand Prix Wildcard was denied victory on the very last lap by Rohan Tungate and teenage sensation Dan Bewley, whose back straight swoop in Heat 15 completed a sensational five ride maximum. Despite the ultimately one-sided finish, the Rockets were very much in contention for the first half of the fixture, with a 5-1 by Scott Nicholls and Kasprzak – named to the race as a Tactical Substitute – pulling Rye to within four points, at 20-16, and the Pole and guest Nikolaj Busk Jacobsen sharing a 3-3 with winner Max Fricke in the next heat. That was as close as it got, however, with the Aces hitting five 5-1s and two 4-2s across the eight remaining races to create a lopsided appearance to the final score. As Rye House Team Manager Peter Schroeck accepted afterwards, “It was a bit of a nightmare at the end. The boys were hanging in there, and there were some really good races, but they (the Aces) are so, so quick up here. “K.K. did really well, but the others struggled with speed. It was not a question of effort or riding; everybody was trying really hard, but we just didn’t have the pace.” “BP Mitchell” Rockets: Krzysztof Kasprzak 14+1, Chris Harris 5+1, Scott Nicholls 5, Aaron Summers 3, Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen (guest) 2+1, Max Clegg 2, Edward Kennett R/R Belle Vue: Dan Bewley 13+2 (maximum), Max Fricke 11+2, Rohan Tungate 9+1, Craig Cook 9, Charles Wright 7+3, Jye Etheridge 6+1, Paul Starke 4+1. From Monday night in Manchester, the focus for the “BP Mitchell” Rockets now rapidly shifts to Wednesday’s home encounter against Wolverhampton. With their last Hoddesdon fixture abandoned in the rain and mist after just eight races, Wednesday effectively marks the start of Rye’s 2018 home programme, and they will head into it without both Edward Kennett (knee) and Stuart Robson (broken finger). Rider-Replacement will once again be in operation for Kennett, with Krzystztof Kasprzak, Aaron Summers and the Rockets’ two reserves eligible for replacement outings, and Rye House asset Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen once again stepping in as a reserve guest for the side-lined Robson. The Wolves, meanwhile, will field the same septet that took out the Hertfordshire club 60-30 at Monmore Green last Monday. Jacob Thorsell and 2015 British U-21 Champion Kyle Howarth were both unbeaten in that fixture, and will be joined by double League Riders’ Champion Rory Schlein (who went through the card tonight in a 54-36 victory over Poole), 2017 Aussie titlist Sam Masters and 2016 Rocket Cameron Heeps in the main body of their team. The reserve slots belong to former British Youth Champions Nathan Greaves and Ashley Morris. Team Manager Peter Schroeck sees this as the meeting to get the Rockets’ campaign right back on track. “Wolverhampton and Belle Vue were tough places to go to, but we are only two matches into the season. Wednesday is another day, and it is up to us to hit the ground running, make some starts and attack them from the off. “We’ll know more about the situation on Eddie (Kennett) in the next day or so. At this stage, we know he’s automatically ruled out for Wednesday, and he may well miss next Monday’s match at Leicester as well. “That obviously leaves a gap against Wolverhampton because we all know how strong Eddie is around Rye House, but we will look to make up for it in other areas. We’ll work as a team, and fight as a team, to properly kick our season into gear.” Wednesday’s SGB Premiership action starts at 7.30pm. “BP Mitchell” Rockets: Max Clegg, Chris Harris, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen (guest), Krzysztof Kasprzak, Edward Kennett R/R, Scott Nicholls (captain), Aaron Summers
Wolverhampton: Nathan Greaves, Cameron Heeps, Kyle Howarth, Sam Masters, Ashley Morris, Rory Schlein (captain), Jacob Thorssell In addition to Wednesday’s main event, the meeting will also feature six Rocketeers races at 125cc and 250cc level.
Admission:
Adults £18, Seniors (over 60s) £16, Registered Disabled £12 (Accompanying Carer £12), Full-Time Students (17-22) £6, Children (aged 12-16) £6, Children (under 12) FREE. Match programme: £2.

RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: WE’RE ON OUR WAY! The “BP Mitchell” Rockets achieved the result they wanted in a dramatic come-from-behind 48-42 victory over Wolverhampton at Rye House on Monday night. Guest – and Rye asset – Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen (14+1) and Krzysztof Kasprzak (12+2), in particular, laid the groundwork for a dramatic fightback from 19-11 down – without the assistance of a Tactical Substitution – to claim a first victory of the new season in what was effectively the Rockets’ home opener. After earlier heavy away defeats at Wolverhampton and Belle Vue, the Rockets desperately needed to bounce back here, but prospects of a third straight reverse loomed large when Kyle Howarth and Jacob Thorssell opened with a 5-1 over Chris Harris and Aaron Summers and the Midlanders dominated the early proceedings, adding two further 4-2s and allowing a single Rockets victory – via NBJ – in the first five races. Harris started the comeback by taking Heat 6, with Summers pursuing 2017 Aussie Champion Sam Masters for second spot for the duration as the Hertfordshire side bagged its first heat advantage in a 4-2, and better was to follow four laps later as NBJ and captain Scott Nicholls – who re-took Rory Schlein on the second lap – maxed out to cut the deficit to 20-22. The Wolves responded with a 4-2 in Heat 8 – with Summers the middle man between the undefeated Howarth and Ashley Morris – before Kasprzak and Summers headed home Masters for the 5-1 that levelled the score at 27-27. The next two races were drawn, but KK and NBJ then combined to blast a third Rye House maximum, with Heeps and Morris the victims, to put the home side in front. It looked as though the Wolves would level things up in the penultimate race, as Schlein and Morris worked hard to keep Kasprzak behind them. The Warsaw Grand Prix Wildcard clearly had other ideas, however, working his way past Morris on the third lap and nearly catching Schlein as well. The resulting 4-2 still set up a last heat decider, at 43-41, at which point the Pole re-emerged alongside Nicholls to clinch a Rockets victory by blasting home one last 5-1 over Thorssell and Schlein in what was an emotional finale. Talking afterwards, paid 15 hero Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, who was standing in for broken finger victim Stuart Robson for the second time in three days, admitted that “After Monday (paid 3 at Belle Vue), I really didn’t know what my expectations were for tonight! I know this track; I LIKE this track. But, again, I’ve been out for nine months (with injury) and only just come back. But, yes, I’m quite satisfied! “I wish Robbo (Stuart Robson) well on his recovery, but every Premiership booking I can get in the meantime is important. I am riding Speedway because I like it, and I want to be out there as much as possible in order to improve myself and get experience at as many tracks as possible.” Team mate Aaron Summers, meanwhile, reflected on the Rockets’ comeback. “Yes, it was a bit of a slow start from us as we worked on set-ups. You know, we’ve not done many laps around here yet, but we are slowly getting there. As you saw, we came stronger and stronger as the match wore on, which is really good.” Summers and NBJ are already regular team mates at SGB Championship side Berwick, and the Australian commented on the way the lanky Dane helped swing the match. “He was flying from the start, and those points make a big difference for you down at reserve as well.” He also underplayed another solid personal performance. “I haven’t had that much track time around here, which doesn’t help, and I’ve been a bit up-and-down, working with a few different set-ups and trying to identify what works, and what doesn’t. But I’ll get there, and come on stronger and stronger, which will be good.” “BP Mitchell” Rockets: Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen (guest) 14+1 (7 rides), Krzysztof Kasprzak 12+1 (6), Scott Nicholls 9+3 (5), Aaron Summers 7+1 (5), Chris Harris 6+2 (4), Max Clegg 0 (3), Edward Kennett R/R. Wolverhampton: Jacob Thorssell 10 (5 rides), Rory Schlein 10 (5), Kyle Howarth 8+1 (4), Sam Masters 6 (4), Ashley Morris 4+1 (5), Cameron Heeps 2 (4), Nathan Greaves 2 (3). Match Points: Rye House 3 Wolves 1 Rye House Team Manager also updated the injury situation on both Edward Kennett (knee) and Stuart Robson (broken finger). Firstly, on Kennett: “Eddie’s twisted his knee quite badly; that’s what the swelling is about. But there’s nothing broken; he is just waiting for the swelling to go down in order to have an MRI scan, which is scheduled for next Monday. He won’t be able to do Leicester away for us (that night), but then we’ve got a week’s grace anyway before the Bank Holiday meeting here against Somerset. He should be back for that one. “Robbo’s injury is a bit more of a worry. We have to wait until he comes back with some more information, but he currently reckons he will be out for three to four weeks, although it might conceivably be earlier. There’s not much you can do – you obviously can’t plate it or anything like that – so it’s got to be a natural healing process. He’s going to go into an oxygen chamber as well to help that process.”

RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE:
THE BIG PREVIEW: LEICESTER VS ROCKETS A reinvigorated Rye House side will arrive at Leicester on Monday (7.30 start) buoyed by the roller-coaster ride of Wednesday’s come-from-behind victory over Wolverhampton, as well as knowing that recent history alone at Beaumont Leys gives them an excellent chance of another positive result. The “BP Mitchell” Rockets stormed back from an eight point deficit to down the Wolves by a clear six in mid-week action in Hoddesdon, and are now bidding to carry that momentum on to a venue where they won 46-44 in one of their two visits last term - with the other producing a reverse by the same tight margin after Chris Harris was excluded from the nominated race after bringing down Josh Bates. The Rockets will be unchanged from the Wolves match, with Rider-Replacement continuing to operate for knee injury victim Edward Kennett and paid 15 hero Nikolai Busk Jakobsen once again standing in for the side-lined Stuart Robson. Awaiting them at the Beaumont Sports Complex will be a Lions outfit that has already been forced to re-shuffle its deck with two rider changes in the opening weeks of the new season. Just under 24 hours after rain and mist caused the abandonment of their visit to Hertfordshire, more wet weather led to the loss of No.1 Martin Vaculik with a broken ankle at Swindon. Leicester moved quickly to replace the World No.9 with former Grand Prix star and 2010 Danish Champion Kenneth Bjerre, also taking on board double Australian Longtrack Champion Todd Kurtz at the expense of the unlucky Michael Palm Toft in order to comply with the points limit regulations. The re-jigged Lions are yet to hit full speed, falling 44-46 at home to Swindon this past Monday after surrendering a ten point advantage at Heat 6. Ahead of their line-up changes, however, their other completed fixtures this season have seen them crush Somerset 55-35 and collect a match point from a 43-47 reverse away to the Rebels. Prior to his arrival in Hertfordshire, Aaron Summers last rode in the top flight for the Lions in 2016, and the Australian is aiming for a successful return to the circuit on Monday. “I was at Leicester for three-quarters of that season and enjoyed it there, so I am definitely looking forward to going back. “Can we win on Monday? Absolutely. You only need to look at our performance against Wolverhampton, and how hard and strong everyone came on, as well as how we bonded and everyone helped each other out, to see what happens when we get going.” “BP Mitchell” Rockets:
Max Clegg, Chris Harris, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen (guest), Krzysztof Kasprzak, Edward Kennett R/R, Scott Nicholls (captain), Aaron Summers Leicester: Hans Andersen, Kenneth Bjerre, Danny King (captain), Todd Kurtz, Kyle Newman, Krystian Pieszczek, James Sarjeant

The “BP Mitchell” Rockets suffered a combination of disappointment and frustration at Leicester, as they fell to the Lions 53-37 in SGB Premiership action on Monday night.
While there were certain positives to take away from the encounter - not least very healthy scores from Scott Nicholls (12+1) and 2016 Lion Aaron Summers (9), as well as a brief early lead following a 5-1 from Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen and Max Clegg in Heat 2 – the match will also will be remembered for all the wrong reasons by Chris Harris, who fell when prominently placed in one race and failed to score in his three others.
As Rye House Team Manager Peter Schroeck admitted afterwards, “Bomber had a complete nightmare of a match, but not for want of trying. He was making changes throughout, but nothing was happening for him. He needs to re-group and get back on it, and fortunately, next Monday (when the Rockets are at home to Somerset) is another day.
“It was a tough night for us in the end after we began so well. I thought that we deserved to get something out of the meeting, and I was disappointed overall that we didn’t pick up a match point.
“Scott had a brilliant night, and so too Aaron, who deserved his spot in Heat 15. Nikolaj did his job again, although having to operate Rider-Replacement on the road – with a couple of two-on-the-trots – didn’t make life easy for him. And there were positive things from young Max, who pulled off a 5-1 with Nikolaj in his first heat and was on the pace in his other two.
“We’re back at home next Monday, and that is an important opportunity to turn things around and get back into the rhythm we want and need. The latest word on Eddie (Kennett) is that he is very much aiming to be back for that one. He is now going for an MRI scan tomorrow, but the swelling has already gone down, he is feeling a lot, lot better after total rest… and he still has a full week to go until that match.
“So we are definitely expecting to welcome Eddie back. With Nikolaj (returning again as guest cover for the side-lined Stuart Robson) still with us as well, we’ll be strong again, and definitely psyched up for the Rebels.”
“BP Mitchell” Rockets: Scott Nicholls 12+1, Aaron Summers 9, Krzysztof Kasprzak 8, Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen (guest) 6+1, Max Clegg 2, Chris Harris 0, Edward Kennett R/R.
Leicester: Kenneth Bjerre 12+1, Krystian Pieszczek 11+1, Hans Andersen 9, Danny King 8+1, Todd Kurtz 5+2, James Sarjeant 5+1, Kyle Newman 3+2.
Match Points: Leicester 3 Rye House 0.
