Aldershot struck financial trouble mid-season due to diminishing crowds and survived by transferring out some of their Stars (Bert Edwards being notable). One major contributing factor to the loss of fans was the retention of main man Trevor Redmond by parent club Wembley. Aldershot had been hoping to retain his services for one more season and he even rode in a National Trophy meeting for them. The Shots finished a disappointing 7th in the League and went out at the first time of asking to Plymouth in the National Trophy.
