Sidecars were on the first British speedway meeting at High Beech in February 1928. They also raced at Wimbledon in the 1950s but were dropped after a sidecar passenger was killed. I don't know anything else about the latter incident. There might also have been sidecars at Harringay in the 1950s when Peter Sperrin from Australia rode (or is it drove?) in a meeting at Green Lanes.

Your first two facts are correct but I would question if Aussie star Peter Sperin ever raced on a London track.

Harringay had sidecars one night and Split Waterman, who else but Split, had a go on the chair of one of the bikes.

Your first two facts are correct but I would question if Aussie star Peter Sperin ever raced on a London track. I am fairly certain that Australian sidecar racer Peter Sperrin (or is it Sperin) appeared in a demonstration race at Wimbledon sometime in 1954. And I think that there was also another Australian racer there the same night.
