CRYSTAL PALACE SPEEDWAY
by Lionel Crossley
Speedway arrived at the Crystal Palace in May 1928 after several years of Dirt
Track racing. Lionel takes us through its evolution in a series of spellbinding
chapters in which he deftly captures the spirit of the era and the heady
excitement of the races on the cinders.
Crystal Palace Speedway - Thrills & Spills of the 20's & 30's has been
assiduously researched over a number of years using many private archives and
features rare photographs.
The late Lionel Crossley was a member of the Crystal Palace Foundation's Palace
Memories group and as thus wrote this book both from his own personal
experiences as a speedway rider and as a local historian. The pages are peppered
with anecdotes of speedway stars, many of whom were personally known to the
author.
