I must confess that I make rare visits to this site but looking down the last Posts it seems there's very little traffic with only the Mod entering to post up reviews for Lakeside and Rye House as well as the results. Does anyone else come on here? I just wonder how much longer the site will run before the Mod decides "it's time to stop wasting my time?"

You've got me thinking - am I doing this for my sole benefit? It might be time to follow your suggestion? Administrator, London Speedways.

I also have an idea that lack of use of the site to debate things - does nobody even attend Rye House or Lakeside - or on general things regarding speedway over the years is leading to something drastic happening on here...that is just either a shutdown or a lack of anything results and news being posted on here.

hi there. I have recently joined this forum having found it by chance. I wonder if you should advertise it some more, eg on the British Speedway Forum site.

Surprisingly, member debate has never been a really strong point on this site, despite the extensive coverage afforded to London area tracks - Lakeside and Rye House. All the match reports and updates for these are given on a regular basis. From time to time, the already substantial historical sections are also updated, while when available photos are also placed on the forums. Unfortunately, it is contrary to British Speedway Forums to advertise other sites - London Speedways would clash with the history sections of the BSF. As moderator, I do sometimes wonder just where London Speedways is going and it it is serving any purpose. The visitor check does show besides registered site members logins quite a few guests but these of course could be 'search sweeps' by sites like Google and Ask. Aside from the BSF, there is a possibly that the excellent SpeedwayPlus website (IMO the No.1 for speedway) may - only may - give us a plug and I will contact them on that possibility. Thank you for your interest gatwickrocket. Admin, London Speedways.

As has been said the site does not generate a great deal of member debate but the site is important for not only results but the historical info. Any speedway site that provides info about our sport is vital to maintain interest in the sport. My message to the moderator is stick with however frustrating it may seem.

And nothing seems to have changed since the last response in July in regard to active membership of this forum. Is there anyone out there following what appears here? I fancy this is now rather like the 'Last Days of Pompeii' and once the season ends then we are not going to see any more updates on here or anything else for that matter.

Any closure of this site as previously suggested in this thread would be little more than - in my view - tantamount to internet vandalism. Many people beside the Mods have worked hard to provide valuable data and historic information over the past four years or so. To wipe it all out with the click of a button would be a disaster.

I should have listened earlier to those who wanted forum activity to continue instead of wasting time on Facebook which has little facility for placing items in archives (as on here) and is probably little more than a gloried photo album as I see it. Facebook items and comments at the end of the day are "like specks of dust in the space of time."
