My late father and others told me that Bronco Wilson was alleged to have deliberately killed himself in a crash at Harringay. Has anybody any thoughts or recollections regarding this?. I have come in for some stick for suggesting this on other forums but my father was always quite adamant about it.

Here's the Link - for what reason would Bronco Wilson want to have killed himself? And it would be difficult in my opinion to engineer one's death in a speedway crash. www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=43891

I have come in for some stick for suggesting this on other forums but my father was always quite adamant about it. I remember reading of the death of Bronco Wilson in August 1947 this way. We had been on a family holiday in Devon and travelled back to London on a Saturday. In the early evening we then went from Waterloo to New Cross Gate station where I bought the 'Evening News' to get an update on Millwall FC - and there on its back sports page was the tragic report of how Wembley's Bronco Wilson had died after crashing in the Lions match at Harringay the previous night (a Friday). I can still vaguely remember standing in the station entrance and being stunned by the news and my parents trying to console me. That was 69 years ago.
