I remember reading of the death of Bronco Wilson in August 1947 this way. We had been on a family holiday in Devon and travelled back to London on a Saturday. In the early evening we then went from Waterloo to New Cross Gate station where I bought the 'Evening News' to get an update on Millwall FC - and there on its back sports page was the tragic report of how Wembley's Bronco Wilson had died after crashing in the Lions match at Harringay the previous night (a Friday). I can still vaguely standing in the station entrance and being stunned by the news and my parents trying to console me. That was 67 years ago.Attachments:
