I have been considering the future of London Speedways for some time and feel the need to formulate change has arrived.
For a long time there has been no member participation either in regard to message discussion, debate on the area’s two teams - Lakeside and Rye House - or in regard to any possible history matters.
It has become very much a “one person” board - for the administrator.
As a test, this year I stopped providing a classified results section. So far, not one member has come to query what it has stopped, or if there is a possibility of being resumed.
The visitors list also reflects that nobody appears to be entering the sight to read anything on there. Basically, it is a forum serving only the administrator. And that, frankly, is not acceptable.
My proposal is to place the present London Speedways forum into Maintenance Mode (or as it can be described Admin Mode) from Saturday, May 3, 2014. None of the present historical material, photos or club updates will be lost. They will remain on the London Speedways forum as at present. It just means that members will no longer have access to them.
For all that, I am prepared to rescind my suggestion if there is sufficient member activity leading into this Saturday’s deadline to prove people still want the London Speedways to continue. But it needs an extremely large majority - at least 200 present members - to indicate they want the forum to continue.
For all that, London Speedways will live on and can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/791873164176119/
