I first came in contact with Dave Lanning in the mid-1950s when I was working for Echo Publications (London) Ltd in Cheapside, London, and he started sending contributions to the 'Speedway Star' and 'Soccer Star". RIP Dave Lanning.

Dave a very 'large' figure when promoting at West Ham in late 60s. Innovative too in that he had the whole team wearing West Ham football shirts over their leathers. Used to enjoy his commentaries too, he could make a processional heat seem like the most exciting race we had ever seen! RIP
