In what year did Gerry Hussey move from West Ham - after the closure in 1956 possibly. Also when he was killed driving a midget car in Australia in March 1959, was it in a race or at practice. Did he ever race a midget car? Thanks.

Gerry Hussey joined Norwich Stars midway through 1956 having missed the opening months of that season. In 1958 Gerry moved on to ride for the Leicester Hunters. I have no record of him racing in 1957. He rode in 3 World Finals - 1955 (Reserve - with West Ham), 1956 (16th with Norwich) & 1958 (finishing 9th whilst with Leicester). I also have him recorded as the Victoria (Australian) State Champion in 1956. His seasons with the Hammers I have listed as 1954 & 1955 and his midget crash as Winter 58/9

Information I have shows that Gerry Hussey was actually racing a TQ midget car rather than a proper midget car. TQ defines the car's size - ie three quarters the length of a standard midget. I presume that the engines in a TQ were also smaller than for a full-size midget car?
