I was interested in the message regardng 1938 teams in that section. Also to read that New Cross and wembley also ran reserve teams in the English National Trophy. Any names for these teams that can be carried in the 1938 team squads. I would be interested to see these if they are traceable in anyway at all? The team lists seem to be coming together but I guess it's a lot of hard work.

English Speedway Trophy Results 1938 as follows
HACKNEY WICK won 6 matches - 55:29 v Brum, 45:36 v NX, 60:22 v Norwich, 54:30 v Wembley, 49:35 v NX and 58:24 v Wembley and lost 4 matches - 38:43 v Soton, 35:48 @ Brum, 28:55 @ Norwich and 20:64 @ Soton
WEMBLEY won 3 matches - 52:32 v Brum, 49:34 v NX and 44:40 v Norwich & losing 7 matches - 36:46 v Brum, 30:54 & 24:58 v HW, 30:52 v NX, 48:36 v Norwich, 29:53 & 33:48 v Soton
NEW CROSS won 1 match - 52:30 v Wem and lost 9 matches - 29:52 & 22:61 v Brum, 36:45 & 35:49 v HW, 38:46 & 36:47 v Norwich, 47:33 & 23:58 v Southampton, 34:49 v Wembley
The Southern Section saw Southampton winners on 18pts, Hackney & Norwich 12 pts, Birmingham 10 pts, Wembley 6 pts and New Cross 2pts were last. Belle Vue Res (Northern victors) won the final 85-82 over Southampton.
West Ham Reserves also rode in the North Section. They had 1 win over B V Res and lost their other 7 matches.

Could Arthur Kaines in the Wembley team be Alf Kaines, who was a product of the Dagenham track in 1938?

I had a feeling he was Alf but cannot say for sure. If he was Alf he would be the same bloke who was with Southampton post-war. The Norwich v Wembley match he rode in was early 1938 however. This would point to it being rather early for them to be the same bloke I think however
