Speedway legend has it that an American rider, AJ Franchetti, turned up at the Bridge in 1932 and asked for a trial. There is no record of him ever riding for the team but he may - only may - have appeared in second-half races. There is also speculation in some quarters that Franchetti was in fact Alvin 'Spike' Rhiando. He later rode in meetings in East Anglia in 1933 and around 1937-38 also rode at Dagenham. More famoulsy, he was known as a pre-war midget car driver and post-war pioneered 500cc big circuit car racing along with Stirling Moss. I digress however - what I want to know is do records of him exist in regard to riding at Stamford Bridge in 1932?
