Wembley Lions 1950s.jpgCan anyone please provide me with a left to right for this 1950 photo of the super-great Wembley Lions, taken at the Empire Stadium in London speedway's hey-day. What a great team the Lions were. Attachments:

Try: Tommy Price, Jimmy Gooch, Alf Bottoms, George Wilks, Bob Wells, Bill Kitchen, Alec Jackson, Split Waterman, Eric Williams, Jack Gates, Fred Williams, Den Cosby and Bill Gilbert. Can't remember bloke in white coat's name.

Ooops. I got to bed last night and it hit me that I had accused Bruce Abernethy of being Split Waterman. Don't suppose Split would worry and Bruce is past caring now. When I first looked I thought he's tall for Split but allowed the moustache and hair-do to mislead me,

I have also another had a look at the photo and it is Bruce Abernethy. Hadn't Split Waterman joined Harringay by the time this team photo was taken?

A couple of corrections to the names for the 1950 Wembley team. The Team Manager is Duncan King, who replaced Alec Jackson. Also, the man on the right in the white coat is Tommy Barnett (Chief Mechanic).
