I was looking at Google Maps and there is an oval shaped "stadium" in London quite close to Walthamstow Queens Road Tube station north west of the junction of the A104 Lea Bridge Road and the A1006 Markhouse Road adjacent to the S(South) Access Road at its junction with Waltham Road. It is adjcent to an industrial area. The nearest house all look to be gable end on east of Essex Road. Anyone know anything about this "stadium"? Jim Henry

The site isn't really a 'stadium'. It's called Low Hall - the area where the former running track is located is now part of the Leyton Orient Academy, and the area to the north west of the changing room block is full of council(?) football pitches. I haven't been over there for a couple of years but from memory the running track is grassed over as has the spectator banking. There is quite a bit of housing not too far away plus a very odd open-air Transport Museum full of old Tube carriages. As for speedway, I think the chances are zero, but would love to be proved wrong.

Have to agree, especially these days.
New residents near speedway stadiums always have the loudest voices.
Building a new one would be even more difficult but this looks more like a recreational facility than a potential speedway stadium.
Love to be proved wrong too but London has probably seen its last metropolitan track now.
Very few big cities have them any more - Belle Vue is very lucky.
