A neat article about a hot bed of cycle speedway in South East London in the 1940s/50s. It was good to see a plug for the team of which I was one of the six founder-members - the Welling Wings. However, we had three successive tracks, all located in what is now the London Borough of Bexley and competed in the Kent League, at least until I was called up for my National Service in June 1952. I think, therefore, that it might be erroneous to regard the Wings as local to Bermondsey, which is 10 miles away.
