Forwarded message: From: "Chris Gregory Hello, I'm not sure if this email address is still active or anything but I'm doing a bit of searching online. My dad passed 7 years ago and his dad, Les Gregory was a speedway driver, around the 1930s, I saw a group when I searched his name in google that this email was linked with and that group mentioned 'the late Les Gregory' so I thought I'd email you on the off chance you had information, pictures or anything regarding my Grandad as I don't ever remember meeting him and, my dad wasn't big on talking about his family! Thank you so much for your time. I know it's a long shot but it's apart of my family I'd love to know about. Chris Gregory. This is a picture of him if it helps.Attachments:

Forwarded message === sent byr.fearman ==="I knew Les Gregory pretty well - he features in my autobiography 'Both Sides Of The Fence' - Les was the manager at Stoke Speedway formerly Hanley Speedway, same Stadium. "I arrived there in 1952 as a rider (doing National Service) on loan from West Ham. Les was employed by Tiger Stevenson Mr Miles and Mr Galloway, all three were in partnership at that time with Kensington Tyre Services. Les and his wife Vera lived in Stoke on Trent until the end of their lives. ""In 1953 / 1954 crowds were dropping off and Les left to manage Wolverhampton. Both teams ceased to operate after the end of the 1954 season. "The Entertainment tax was 48% !!! which had a lot to do with the closure of so many tracks at that time - plus of course the introduction of Television which became a must for the Queen's Coronation in 1953. Les only raced pre war and in fact did a tour of Australia in that period."
