In pre-WW2 days speedway riders were featured on cigarette cards. Many of the riders were associated with the then MANY London clubs! Does any member have images of cigarette cards that feature London trackman? They would be interesting to see - and remember to also place the information that is carried on the back of a cigarette card if you can place something on this forum.

Clem Cort was a pioneer rider on London's speedways in the 1920s and 1930s. Is more known about the rider? I have read on another forum that Clem Cort died in a motorcycle road accident in 1931. It appears he was riding as a passenger in a sidecar when the accident happened. Can anyone confirm this tragic accident did happen please? OR BETTER STILL PROVIDE A DENIAL!

Morian Hansen, the 'Great Dane'. Most of his pre-WW2 career was at Hackney Wick. During WW2 Hansen served with the RAF rising to the rank of squadron leader and was also awarded a medal for his service.
Post-war the SRA refused to allow him to return to British speedway because of their then ban on foreign riders. For some years Hansen rode in Denmark and Germany and also ran a speedway training school.Attachments:

Am I correct in the assumption that the albums came with the biographical details already printed and one just posted the picture side of the card into its appropriate place?
