Wembley were completely routed at the Empire Stadium by the Dons. In the London Cup they had beaten Harringay by 10 in each leg of that Final, but the National Trophy and Wimbledon proved to be an entirely different matter altogether. Dennis Gray proved to be the match winner with his unbeaten score following his excellent nights work at Plough Lane in the home leg.

I saw in the Speedway Star last week that the National Trophy has come back in what is now known as the National League but is really the old Conference League wearing a new hat.
