Jim Clementson also rode for Lea Bridge. Clementson scored seven points in his only appearance then disappeared from the sport!

On 17/9/37 a rider named Jack Clementson appeared at Bristol riding for Norwich. I have been unable to track him down anywhere else except that meeting. I wonder if this is the same chap?

My error. The rider was JACK Clementson not Jim. He scored four points for Lea Bridge in a 50-30 win against Norwich on August 1 1938.

I see the name of Les Webbon as a member of the 1938 Wimbledon team. After the war he rode for Bradford, then New Cross before a bad crash in which he fractured his skull ended his racing career.

Les Webbon was named in the Dons line-ups 38 & 39 in Stenners 1948 listings and I have therefore repeated him here as a member of Wimbledon during those years In 1946 I remember Les Webbon rode instead of someone in two rerun races, when the original rider had fallen causing the reruns and the Control Board then later deducted the 2 points he gained and therefore altered the match result, the Control Board unfortunately setting the tone for what has since happened on numerous occasions in more recent years although Les Webbon should not be blamed in any way as he took part because the Steward allowed him to. Wimbledon thus won 41 - 40 though losing the match (27-5-46) by 42 - 41 (Acknowledgement to Stenners 1948 for information)
