My name is Ian.
I really like the look of this Site. I am currently a Redcar Supporter but love the history of the Sport. My real Speedway Team is Sunderland of blesséd memory. Sadly we closed back in 1974. I have read loads of John Hyams interesting articles in Vintage/Classic Speedway Magazines and also Backtrack. I think I am going to enjoy reading about the good old days in London. Very best wishes for this Site - it deserves to succeed.

Hi Ian - like you I like to read all history of Speedway and I have made contact with the likes of Jim Henry, Norman Jacobs, Jim Blanchard and John Hyam over the last few years. Without sites like this there would be less chance to find out about history and then discuss the rights and wrongs we find. My real team is the Norwich Stars but history covers all tracks in the U K from 1928 onward. I hope you get as much enjoyment as I do from the site

There is a lot of effort going on to make this site a success but it seems there are just a few of us giving out topics. Come on guys - on this section especially let's have some things to argue about - or to agree with. I like the history sections but my guess it will take many months of hard work for them to be completed. Bu there should be more than just waiting for the input of statistics.
How's this for starters? If Lakeside can revive the London Riders Championship, how about bringing the London Cup to life again? It could be on a home and away basis between Rye House and Lakeside?

Yes, I could go along with that idea. The problem is that there are only 2 teams in the contest & I find it difficult to see where another will come from at present. Also there will be need to be guest riders to make Rye House up to Arena's average but it will be a start to bring something back. Maybe the proposed Wimbledon team may be an extra entry next season. But the powers that rule Speedway nowadays will fail to find a gap in the fixtures to fit in a London Cup next season after starting it up this season.
