I have just received a message from Australia that former Wembley and New Cross rider Eric Williams has passed away. Eric rode for Wembley and New Cross between the late 1940s and 1960s. As more information reaches me I will try to give an update but I am currently in the Czech Republic and do not have easy access to the internet.

Eric Williams qualified for I think the 1960 world championship but missed the final because he had to return to New zealand because he had an early flight home. RIP Eric Williams, really great at New Cross and able to beat stars like Ove Fundïn as I recall.
