Went round this track and the Wormwood Scrubbs one a few times and it was a joy to have a venues that were supplied by an outside source instead of "doing it yourself" which had been the way of life till then.
However, the early days where we found a site then developed it our selves, made up teams, arranged our own leagues was most likely a damned sight better for those involved.
It still amazes me that kids built there own tracks then met others of like mind and developed a local organization. From their efforts grew a national sport with ruling bodies and all the other administration that is deemed to be essential.
I am glad I was one of the do it yourself mob.

That was the way it was in Norfolk as well. In them days it was a case of "do it yourself" as it would not have happened if you waited for someone else to do anything ........ in the main
